Power factor correction

As with any electrical equipment,the works of efficiency usually determine from poor to excellent.How we measure the electrical efficiency?The answer is power factor.I discussed about how to sizing capacitor for  power factor correction on my last post.

Most of electrical motor or inductive equipment powered by two types of power.First is a working power.It measure in kilo watt (kW) unit.It mean this power is actually used to operated the electrical equipment.

Second is a reactive power.It mean inductive equipment need this power to  produced the necessary flux for the operation.The measurement is the kilovar ( kVAR ) unit.

So the working power (kW) and reactive power (kVAR) combined together to make up apparent power.It measure in kilo volt ampere (KVAR) unit.That is we call power factor correction. read more

Transformer winding connection

When we want to install the transformer for our project or any application and auto transformer stater,firstly we must know the transformer winding connection.If not it will cause the damage or serious injury when it install with wrong connection.

So how we can identify the transformer winding connection?Here i want share some tips how to identify the winding connection.This basic information can effected to our voltage supply and if not done i  proper way,it can cause serious damage to our application or equipment.

Three phase transformer winding

In the market now,commonly it have three methods of three phase transformer winding such as a star, delta and zig-zag. Each method can be applied to either or both of the primary and secondary winding of transformer.

This connection must suitable with our output voltage for application and equipment.We should decide which connection is suitable and not effected when power supply energizes.

How to install 3 phase socket outlet?

Socket outlet is used more widely in the home or industry to connect the electrical power to the equipment or appliances.We can found many types of socket outlet with nominal voltage rated for single and three phase.

Before we install any types of socket outlet,please calculate the full load ampere and make sure the socket outlet rated ampere is suitable with load.If not a socket outlet will burn or broken due to overload current.

This time, I will show how the correct way to install a socket outlet for three phases system.BUT before start any works…MAKE SURE all power supply already switch off or disconnected.Put the signage or tag at the  fuse box for safety purpose.
