How To Disconnect THOMAS Coupling From Induction Motor Hub?

This post I would like to share video how to disconnect or dis-engage THOMAS Coupling from motor hub during maintenance works.In this video,technician plan to replace new bearing for the motor due to abnormal sound detected from bearing.Normally in industry or chemical plant,Thomas Coupling is the one of common application to connect electric motor as a drive and pump as a rotary equipment for the process.

The main reason why Thomas coupling are used :-

  1. To transmit power from one shaft to another, efficiently and effectively.
  2. To accommodate slight shaft misalignment which develop in service.

Thomas coupling application also can protect our equipment from mechanical damage and misalignment. Below several protection when using Thomas coupling :-

1. Absorb shock, vibration and pulsations.

2. Decrease cross load on bearings.

3. Accept load reversals.

How It’s Work : SMC Auto Drain Functional and Operation

This time I would like to share about Auto Drain operational to discharge automatically water inside compressed air receiver tank.This equipment is very important to remove 80% of water contain in compressed air and to ensure our compressed air is dry and clean.Why we need the clean and dry compressed air in our system?The main reason is to ensure our pneumatic equipment or instrument fully operated and pro long a life span.If water contaminated our compress air system,piping or equipment that operated with compress air will rusty,jammed and clog with dirt.It’s can cause a breakdown and it loss to our operation cost.

Can a Water Pump Explode?

The answer must be “yes” .The centrifugal pumps in the pictures are all water pumps which exploded. The explosions did not occur because of any contamination or chemical reaction with something that was not supposed to be in the pump.
