When design the electrical installation and electric power for building or factory,the main objective that we need to focus is about emergency and standby electric power systems.The main reasonĀ  is the about safety of building occupants following a power outage.

When danger or disaster happened at building or factory such as fire,heavy smoke, chemical hazard,tsunami or earthquake,the emergency procedure backup power system is important and it required for evacuation from the building.

Generator exitation

What is the excitation?The main purpose of excitation system for generator is to supply the power source to the rotor field coil.Excitation system produce the field current and it controlled by the automatic voltage regulator (AVR).I already discuss about automatic voltage regulator on my last post.

This field current controller is important to ensure the generator running in the suitable voltage.It also controlled the value of current when generator connected to a large load.It will receive or delivery the required level for reactive power ( kVAr). read more

Controller method for automatic voltage regulator

Basically automatic voltage regulator for generator have a 2 mode selection.It is with full automatic function and manual function.

Basic of automatic voltage regulator

Basically the AVR or Automatic Voltage Regulators function for generator is to ensure voltage generated from power generator running smooth to maintain the stable voltage in specified limit. It can stabilize the voltage value when suddenly change of load for power supply demand.

If the generator running in parallel condition,the AVR can controlled the voltage that it produce to ensure of equal value for reactive load sharing.

For the big system of interconnected power distribution with parallel design,it must have a full controlled and transient stability particular must added for requirement to the Automatic Voltage regulator for generator. read more

Automatic voltage regulator for generator

The AVR ( automatic voltage regulator ) is suitable for supplying power to the fields of either brushless or commutator type exciters and will maintain the A.C generator voltage within plus and minus 1% of the preset value with paralleling.

When the load varies between no load and rated load and with a frequency changes more than plus minus 4%.Upon application or rejection of rated load,the generator voltage recovers to plus and minus 1% within 0.3 second on most AVR exciter in A.C generator combination. read more
