Grounding requirement for installation

In Electrical installation,Grounding or Earthing is the important thing that we need to highlight during discussion and execution of the electrical installation.Its to ensure the equipment or installation is protected by good grounding system.

The grounding installation method must be followed and guide by proper CBA (Current Best Approach)  that can provide us the best technique for electrical installation grounding.Please refer your Local Electrical Guideline or Code and Standard Pertaining to Bonding and Grounding system from IEEE,NEC or NFPA 99.

Grounding and Bonding

Earthing system is one of the important items for electrical installation used in domestic or industrial sector.This is for electrical safety purpose when current leakage happen.

With proper grounding system,people are protected from electrical shock and also to ensure residual current devices (RCD) or Ground Fault device (GFCI) activate properly.

Two Point Method

This is another alternative method for earthing resistance measurement when excellent ground is already available.When we want to perform the measurement for earthing resistance in the compact room or tight area and want to put the two(2) auxiliary rod  may be a problem.

So..to solve this problem,we can use the two point method measurement.This measurement concept is two point into the ground in series technique used to the reading obtained.

The earth surface or other ground must be very low in resistance so that it will be negligible in the final measurement. The lead resistances will also be measured and should be deducted from the final measurement. read more

Grounding resistance measurement

Grounding or Earthing is the compulsory device for electrical installation.It’s the end point for electrical residue when leakage happen on electrical circuit or installation.

Good grounding can make a different of current balancing in phase during electrical leakage and Residual Current Circuit Breaker will activate if current leakage value over the sensitivity.( 10 mA,100 mA,30 mA,300 mA).

To get a good grounding,we should make sure the resistance is minimum.For the best resistance value is “0 ohm” or less than 5 ohm.That why grounding resistance measurement is important because we need to ensure our grounding is good. read more
